You have probably heard us run through the numbers several times by now: For many years, roughly 50% of college graduates have been women, almost 50% of the workforce has been made up of women, and a little over 50% of managerial positions have been held by women.  Yet, according to Catalyst, in no industry are more than 16% of Fortune 500 top executive positions held by women. And of course the reason that we repeat them is that they are stunning in their clarity.

The Quorum Initiative (TQI) really is all about getting together to push mightily at the barriers that have kept women from being fully represented at the top of the corporate ladder. To create real change women have to lead the effort and collectively address the issues we face as we advance professionally.

Our strategy for attacking this dilemma has four essential elements:

Developing skills
Building hard and soft skills that will aid you in career advancement

Building a network
Extending your professional contacts and connecting with your peers in various roles and across industries to form an environment where members can share experiences and openly explore the challenges they face.

Taking action
Planning your career and actively moving toward your own goals, as well as helping others move towards theirs, by creating mutual business opportunities and connections for one another.

Creating change
Leveraging all that you learn and all the connections you make to ensure that you are helping to lift barriers and create opportunities for the generations of amazing women coming up the ranks behind you.

It’s time for serious action. By improving our own skills and supporting each other in our collective drive for improvement and advancement, we can make a difference in our professional lives and foster a better environment for future generations of working women. By simply bringing together the amazing talents, brilliant minds, and dynamic energy of women who want to be at the forefront of change, we have seen magic be made.  And magic makes anything feel possible.
