HOW To Build Your Personal Brand on LinkedIn

Patricia Roberts
Chief Operating Officer, Gift of College

Julie Livingston
Founder, WantLeverage Communications

Have you ever considered how best to promote Brand YOU? Self-promotion is especially pertinent for female founders and leaders who want to stand out both inside and outside their organizations. One of the most efficient and effective ways to do this is by establishing your personal brand and thought leadership on LinkedIn.

Recently, Quorum was fortunate to have members Patricia Roberts and Julie Livingston present a session on “HOW to Build Your Personal Brand on LinkedIn.” Our call to action from the session was to make LinkedIn a priority, using this business networking platform to help raise our voices, be seen, and add to our collective impact as women. Here are six action steps Patricia and Julie shared with us to help us get started:

  1. Update your profile so it’s less of a resume and more of a personal branding statement
  2. Use a graphic design tool like Canva to update your LinkedIn background header- important real estate to telegraph your story.
  3. Identify your Personal Brand Values – what are the core characteristics, such as trust and authenticity, that make you uniquely you?
  4. Identify three to five Content Pillars based on your Personal Brand Values – content themes you will consistently post about
  5. Develop a posting calendar and start with one post per week (on Wednesday morning in your time zone) working up to two to three on consecutive days. Add three to five hashtags per post
  6. Track post performance over time on a spreadsheet to identify content trends

If you missed the session, you can watch the recording.

AESC – Quorum Initiative Survey

The Quorum community has an opportunity to participate in a global survey on the issues facing leaders today. Would you please consider sharing your views? It takes about 10 minutes to add your voice to AESC’s annual global leadership survey.

This anonymous survey asks:

  • What are the greatest opportunities and risks in times of uncertainty?
  • What DEI strategies have the greatest impact?
  • How would you rate your organization’s readiness to lead change?
  • What strengths and competencies are most important in your role?

Start the survey HERE.

Thank you for taking the survey and helping ensure all voices are heard.

AESC is the standard-setting, global association for the Executive Search and Leadership Consulting profession. CEO Karen Greenbaum and Managing Director for the Americas (and Quorum NY Chapter Co-chair) Lynne Murphy-Rivera will present at our HOW Women Lead Change forum on November 3 in NYC and can share insights from our survey responses during their session.
