Privacy Policy

Quorum Initiative LLC is committed to protecting the privacy of your personal information. We understand and respect your concerns about privacy. At the same time, we do ask that you provide information about yourself in order for us to understand your needs better and make your experience at The Quorum Initiative more valuable to you. To better protect your privacy, we provide this notice explaining our information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used.

How The Quorum Initiative Operates

This Privacy Policy refers to Users who join The Quorum Initiative Network as “Users.” The Quorum Initiative’s website enables Users to create a profile, interact with one another, read content, browse businesses in the directory, and sign up for events.

Collection of Personal Information

In order to become a part of The Quorum Initiative website, Users must register for account credentials. When you register for account credentials The Quorum Initiative collects certain Personal Information, including your name, contact information, education and work history, and a password that you select. The Quorum Initiative may use the Website to collect, use, and retain all information, including Personal Information and Network Data, that is disclosed and uploaded by Members in connection with their use of The Quorum Initiative.

“Network Data” means all data collected from The Quorum Initiative or a User and includes registration information, profile data, answers to profile questions, and statistical information and analytics relating to usage and interactions within the website. When a User signs up to become a member of The Quorum Initiative, he or she is providing Personal Information to The Quorum Initiative, as such The Quorum Initiative and its designated administrators will have access to all Personal Information and Network Data. In addition, The Quorum Initiative will have the ability to reset Member passwords in the event that a Member loses or can’t remember it. The Quorum Initiative might also collect additional types of Personal Information.

Non-personally Identifiable Information

The Quorum Initiative also collects non-personally identifiable information (that is, information that does not identify a specific individual), such as aggregate use statistics for the services. We collect such non-personally identifiable information in part through the use of “cookies” – that is, small text files placed on your computer’s hard drive. We collect basic information about your computer and Internet connections, including: (1) your IP address (your computer’s unique signature); (2) your operating system (e.g., Windows or Mac); (3) your browser software (e.g., Netscape or Internet Explorer); (4) your Internet Service Provider. We may also collect information about your activity on thequoruminitiative.com e.g., links accessed from our email communications, links clicked from within thequoruminitiative.com, points of entry into and exit from our website, etc. The Quorum Initiative reserves the right to gather certain information about your use of our site, such as what areas you visit and what services you access. Collecting this information helps us streamline your experience – for example, helping us diagnose problems with our server and administering our website. The Quorum Initiative’s web server automatically gathers this information, which can help identify broad demographic trends and help us determine what members and visitors are looking for when they visit our website. We use this data to better personalize the content that our members and visitors see.

Use of Cookies

As stated above, we reserve the right to use a feature of your web browser to send your computer a “cookie,” a small data file that’s stored on your hard drive. We do not and cannot use cookies to retrieve personal information from your computer. We use cookies to enhance your experience at thequoruminitatitve.com and to give you better, more personalized service once you’ve registered. We use this information for internal use only; we don’t share it with others.

Confidentiality and Disclosure of Information

We do not sell, lease, or provide any personally identifiable information to outside companies or organizations without member consent. In general, we do not disclose to third parties your personal information, combined personal and demographic information, or specific information about your use of The Quorum Initiative website (such as the areas you visit or the services you access), except as set forth in the following subparagraphs:

1. We may disclose such information if legally required to do so, if requested to do so by a governmental entity or if we believe in good faith that such action is necessary to: (a) conform to legal requirements or comply with legal process; (b) protect the rights or property of The Quorum Initiative or its affiliated companies; (c) prevent a crime or protect national security; or (d) protect the personal safety of users or the public. We cooperate with law enforcement agencies in identifying those who may be using our servers or services for illegal activities.

2. We reserve the right to disclose information submitted by or concerning any member, as we reasonably believe is necessary to protect our systems or business. Specifically, but without limitation, we reserve the right to disclose such information when a member is in violation of our Terms of Use or other published guidelines, or partakes (or is reasonably suspected of partaking) in any harmful, infringing or illegal activity, even without a subpoena, warrant, or other court order. We also reserve the right to report any suspected illegal activity to law enforcement for investigation or prosecution, or to suspend or terminate your membership in connection with any suspected illegal or infringing activity.

3. We may disclose and transfer such information to a third party who acquires all or a substantial portion of The Quorum Initiative business, whether such acquisition is by way of merger, consolidation or purchase of all or a substantial portion of our assets. Should this occur, you would be notified in advance of the transfer of such information that would become subject to a different privacy policy.

4. Although we currently do not have a parent company or any subsidiaries, joint venture partners, or other companies that we control or that is under common control with us (collectively, “affiliates”), we may in the future. We may share some or all of your Personal Information with our affiliates, in which case we will seek to require those affiliates to honor this Privacy Policy.

5. The Quorum Initiative may share aggregated anonymous information about visitors to our websites (for example, the number of visitors to The Quorum Initiative website each month) with clients, partners and other third parties so that they may understand the kinds of visitors to The Quorum Initiative site, and how those visitors use the site.

This Website contains links to third-party sites, however, please be aware that The Quorum Initiative is not responsible for and cannot control the privacy practices of these other sites.  We encourage you to read the privacy policies for these other sites, as they may differ from ours.

International Visitors

This Website is hosted in the European Union.  If you are visiting from regions with laws governing data collection and use that may differ from European Union law, please note that you are transferring your personal data to the European Union and by providing your personal data you consent to that transfer.  When you provide personal data to The Quorum Initiative, you consent to the processing of your data in the European Union as the Website is operated in the European Union.

Security

No data transmissions over the Internet can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. Consequently, we cannot ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us and you do so at your own risk.  Once we receive your transmission, we make reasonable efforts to ensure security on our systems.  You understand and acknowledge that, even after removal, copies of your information may remain viewable in cashed or archived pages or if other users who you permitted to access your information have copied or stored your information.

If The Quorum Initiative learns of a security systems breach we may attempt to notify you electronically so that you can take appropriate protective steps, although we are not committing to do so except as required by law.  By using this website or providing personal information to us, you agree that we can communicate with you electronically regarding security, privacy and administrative issues relating to your use of the website. The Quorum Initiative may post a notice on our Website if a security breach occurs.  If this happens, you will need a web browser enabling you to view the Website.  The Quorum Initiative may also send an email to you at the email address you have provided to us.

For resolution of legal issues or claims arising from use of The Quorum Initiative website, all users agree to New York State as the jurisdiction and as choice of law.
